Last year I studied intensively the musical elements in the wild cursive scripts of Zhang Shu 張旭(675-750),Huai Su 懷素(725-785),and Zhu yin Ming 祝允明(1460-1526). I traced their rhythms and made abstract patterns from their works. In this way I learned their ways of composing visible music with lines and dots, and tried to understand how they express their innermost emotions freely and directly with their own lines and patterns of movements. Then I followed my own feelings and moods to make my own lines . I twisted the brush tip in different directions ,forces and speed to put down the strokes and dots in different thickness and sizes, arranging them in proper relationship to convey directly the rhythm which comes up inside me, continuously and fluently.
